Using budding yeast as a host, we are developing technologies to control gene expression and the subcellular localization of expressed proteins. We also aim to apply these technologies to the development of efficient production of useful materials, such as bioactive substances that occur in trace amounts in nature, and to the development of strains that will contribute to the practical use of yeast for the production of useful substances.
