Contributing to the resolution of various social issues and the sustainable development of society through cutting-edge plant regulation research
There is growing anticipation for effectively utilizing plant functions to solve global-scale social challenges such as environmental issues, energy problems, and food shortages, as well as to achieve a healthier and more prosperous life through the enhancement of agricultural products and plant-derived materials. Our mission is to elucidate the mechanisms that regulate these plant functions and develop technologies to effectively utilize them, leading to practical applications.
Most plant functions are regulated primarily through the transcription of specific genes. Therefore, transcription factors, which directly regulate gene expression, play principal roles in the regulation of plant functions.
We are working on establishing a foundation for transcription factor research and improving analysis techniques, advancing the understanding of useful transcription factors and other genes, as well as developing technologies to utilize them. Furthermore, by leveraging the knowledge and techniques we have cultivated through our research, we aim to promote multifaceted research and development related to plant function control in collaboration with companies, universities and other institutions, with the goal of bringing our research outcomes into practical societal applications.
