We are developing technologies to efficiently produce high-value bioproducts such as protein (e.g., vaccine, antibody) and metabolites (e.g., medicinal, cosmetic components) in plants. We have been advancing the research on technologies using plant virus vectors for the massive expression of foreign genes and for induction of RNA silencing against target mRNA and the targeted DNA methylation against plant genome DNA to manipulate gene expression in a wide range of plants. We also have been conducting the development of specialized plants enabling high-level expression of the desired genes.
